A Palazzo Affair

Palazzo pants are classic in any season and continue to be a key stylish piece in your favorite fashionista's wardrobe...and in mine!

I had always been nervous about wide-leg and/or flared anything - trousers, capris, dresses, skirts, even boxy tops, you name it - but as soon as I saw these pants in the store in this beautiful forest green, I had to try them on and I am so glad I did. They're gorgeous and soft to the touch. Plus, they're really comfortable. I love them! Whether you're tall or short, you can rock palazzos too. Just keep these tips in mind.

 1. HIGH WAIST FOR THE WIN

High waist trousers emphasize the waist and give greater definition to the hips, while elongating the legs and hiding that extra mound of stomach fat that may be creeping in. Guilty.

2. ABSOLUTELY HEELS

If you're tall, this rule need not apply. But if you're on the average-to-petite side like me, heels are crucial because they will give you height. Without pumps (and especially with a short torso), the dramatic flare can make you seem short(er) and stocky. Another trick is to keep the shoes hidden (perhaps except the toes) in order to maintain the illusion of long, never-ending legs.

3. PAIR WITH A FITTED TOP...OR NOT

You can juxtapose the billow with a more subdued upper half. A fitted top will hug your frame and give a slim appearance even more, but feel free to play around with it. I did not wear a fitted top this time but I included a thin belt to cinch and accentuate my waist.

Combined with one of my favorite leather jackets (so, so glad I can bring it out again), a statement necklace and some classic burgundy leather pumps, I was ready to take on the city! This will be a staple this season.

Love it? Let me know what you think and how you would style it.
